MARINA vs LONELADY

So, Monday (22nd Feb) sees the release of perhaps the must hyped artist of the year so far – Marina And The Diamonds. You can see why she is getting so much attention- her name, her ‘quirky’ style, she is hot.

But seriously, is this not getting a little tiresome now? Florence, Little Boots, La Roux, ugh. Why are we so obsessed with these mediocres? Last year saw the release of Bat For Lashes excellent second album which was ridiculously overshadowed by the aforementioned ‘artistes’. And now this year, no doubt, any female with even the remotest semblance of talent will have to make way for Ms. Marina.

Well fine, I guess that’s how the world works. But the truth is, ‘Family Jewells’ is average at best. For a much more rewarding experience I recommend Lonelady’s album, ‘Nerve Up’, also released on Monday.
