The Big Chill Festival is delighted to confirm that Massive Attack and M.I.A. will headline this year’s festival. Celebrating its impressive 16th year in 2010, The Big Chill will return to its stunning home of Eastnor Castle Deer Park in Herefordshire from 5th – 8th August 2010.

Friday’s Deer Park Stage headliners Massive Attack have enjoyed a fantastic re-emergence after seven years since their last album. Their brand new album “Heligoland” has brought a new wave of followers to their already huge fan base. With visuals and lasers at the forefront of their live shows and rousing beats ascending up the hill, expect the buzz from their headline set to kick-start the weekend’s atmosphere. Dubstep legends Kruder and Dorfmeister will headline The Revellers Stage with house duo Layo & Bushwacka! and dubstep trio Magnetic Man also announced as part of the line-up that will keep Friday night revellers dancing into the early hours of Saturday morning.

Saturday’s headline act, M.I.A. will take to The Deer Park Stage in her first festival appearance of the summer
following a live hiatus in the UK of over a year. Having been out of the glare of the public spotlight, M.I.A. enjoyed success last year on the back of her monster hit “Paper Planes” that was featured in the Oscar winning Slumdog Millionaire movie. The New York based artist, who was born in the UK from Sri Lankan heritage, was recently named amongst Time Magazine’s 2009 Top 100 World’s Most Influential People and was Rolling Stone Magazine’s album of the year in 2007. Roots Manuva, the rapper who has collaborated with some of the finest musical acts of the generation will warm The Deer Stage crowd into a frenzy before M.I.A. hits the stage. US star Kelis, will undoubtedly “bring all the boys to her yard” as she performs on The Revellers Stage on the same day along with The Big Chill favourite Mr Scruff and rapper turned soul singer Plan B. UK grime sensation Tinie Tempah is also set to be part of the second day’s performers following his recent success with his number one single “Pass Out”. Dance music fans can head to the Paradiso Club Stage for the likes of Henrik Schwarz, Andy Wetherall and 20:20 Soundsystem or the Starburst Stage for Arctic Monkey’s favourite DJ and fellow Sheffield resident Toddla T and Serocee.

Sunday’s first announced acts include headline act Bebel Gilberto, the Grammy nominated American-born Brazilian singer. Gilberto who is the daughter of bossa nova icons Joao Gilberto and Miucha; is known for leaving her bossa heritage behind and blending her country’s fluid samba rhythms with more hard-edged, slinky electronica. The
prolific jazz, funk and soul composer and vibraphone player, Roy Ayers is one of the finest jazz talents around with over 40 major label albums spanning across jazz, disco and even hip hop. Minimal tech stars Seth Troxler and Jamie Jones will make sure that the Starburst Stage is jumping into Monday with support from Gilles Peterson, Theo Parish, Greg Wilson and the prominent producer Starsmith, credited with the recent success of Ellie Goulding among others.

One of the highlights of Sunday will surely be Ashley Beedle & Darren Morris Present MAVIS (Live) presenting their new project inspired by Mavis Staples, combining the talents of a number of big name artists. Candi Staton, the first lady of Southern Soul is back after 16 chart topping hits from 1969-1974, such as the Grammy nominated “In the Ghetto”. Staton does a one-off performance for the Big Chill this year alongside some of the most successful soul, country and dance acts of the last century. Including the Deep South singer songwriter Kurt Wanger, after working with Morceeba, Wanger has continued to promote his solo career, writing touching melodic alternative country songs. Chris Coco will be adding an up beat edge to the line-up with his love of house and electronica music that he mixes with downtempo acoustic and all sorts of other styles of music, creating some serious moves on the dance floor.
