Monkeyfest – Festival Season lives on!
September 27, 2009
Like an adrenaline shot to the heart of a dying festival season, Monkeyfest arrives to cure our turn of season woes with a day of live music at the Conservatory on the 10th of October. Featuring a superb line-up local artists and those from slightly further afield, this should rival any summer festival you may have attended/got drunk at over the past months. The line up features everybody you can see on the poster here, but please do take look at the Facebook page, as this is by far the best means of keeping up to date with this event. Also, if you haven’t done already, consider joining the group to get updates on all Monkey related events.

Swanfest 2009
August 5, 2009
As summer festival season begins its final glorious lap, Cheltenham folk can look forward to an all-dayer of (semi) epic proportions in the form of Swanfest. Now in its second year this intimate festival promises to be a lively mix of musical styles, featuring some of Cheltenham’s best musical talent. Headlining this year will be the David Goo Variety Band, returning to the ‘nham after their barnstorming performance at Cheltenham Underground’s ‘Goo Friday’ back in April. Hailing from London town and mixing vibrant gypsy/folk/punk with shrewd lyrics, this really is not a band to be missed, especially if you were unfortunate enough to miss out last time they graced our town. TV addicts may well be familiar with them already without realising it, as Rightmove.com recently used on of their tracks on their TV advert.
Music lovers can also look forward to the more familiar sounds of Cheltenham favourites The Midnight Mile, Joe Summers and John Madden & Tom Mitchell as well as others, including The Elle Cooper Band, The Fennel Situation, Walsh and Thatcher, Dead Letter, Juey and Orchid Fever.
Also performing this year, from out of town, will be N.U.M.B from Exeter and Evesham outfit Hoden Lane. Hoden Lane have twice performed at the Swan before to packed out audiences and are an energetic and engaging live act. N.U.M.B performed at last year’s Swanfest and are a fusion of acoustic hip hop.
With a BBQ, cider and Pimms bars, a raffle and more, this is a dead cert for a great summer day out – and you may not get many more this year!
